Hosting service

Are you involved in running websites, applications or databases? Are you looking for a reliable, convenient and efficiently managed hosting environment?
The IS Applications Division, Hosting Service can help you, through flexible service options to suit your needs and friendly advice when you need it.

We can offer:

Our service covers a variety of environments and is specifically designed for all UoE Corporate Units, Academic, and Internal Affiliated Units and Charities. We offer the preferred option to host on our Shared Infrastructure or if required we can host on your own Solely Owned Infrastructure. We are happy to work in partnership with external software providers to deliver effective, value for money services.

Our standard pricing model covers hardware, supporting software licensing e.g. Oracle database and a package of support services, including hardware maintenance, security and backup, tailored to your requirements. Our pricing model aims to balance simplicity with flexibility to meet your needs. Our pricing options are based on the amount of disk space required, processing requirements and whether the system can be hosted on our shared hosting area.

The following provides a rule of thumb for application sizing:
large – Typically over 20 gigabytes with multi-processor (=> 4 CPU)
medium - Typically under 20 gigabytes with multi-processor (=2 CPU)
mini - Any application requiring less than 3 gigabytes storage (application software and database) (=1 CPU)

The IS Applications Division offers a number of complementary services, such as application and website development and multimedia production. We advocate industry best practice and have an extensive Project Management Service that can manage the end to end delivery of your objectives efficiently. We would be delighted to discuss your requirements with you. For further information see our website at:
